Parent Volunteers
The Volunteer Program is the bridge between our community and the best interests of the students in the North East Independent School District . Our goal is to help students gain the academic skills and the self-confidence necessary to become successful learners, while reaching their fullest potential in the community.
Our department acts as a point of contact for volunteers and mentors. We work with our schools and other education support groups to identify those practices that benefit students the most, and then marshal resources to pilot and expand successful programs.
The Volunteer Program will automatically resubmit active volunteer applications every 2 years for a criminal history background. There is no need for you to reapply. If you do not volunteer within a twelve month period, your account may be inactivated. Call the Volunteer Program to update it.
URL: 1College Visitation Verification Form
State Law now in place permits a student, classified as a junior or senior, to be excused from attending school to visit an institution of higher education accredited by a generally recognized accrediting organization for the purpose of determining the student’s interest in attending the institution of higher education. The student may not be excused for more than a total of two (2) days each school year for this purpose.
The law requires a verification of the student’s visitation to the institution of higher education. This form (see file below for form) must be completed, signed and dated by an appropriate official from the institution of higher education visited by the student. The completed form must be submitted to the student’s high school upon return to classes following the visit. Incomplete forms, including the dates of the visitation or the signature of the school official will result in the student being unexcused for the days of the visitation.
